As a child, Tehran-born designer Bijan Pakzad regarded his businessman father as a model of sartorial style. Every morning, young Bijan would observe him as he got ready for work; the older man a figure of propriety in a sharp double-breasted suit with matching tie and pocket square, fine-looking watch, and well-polished shoes. “I was so impressed,” Bijan recalls. “I thought his image represented perfection.”
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has teamed up with world-renowned designer Bijan Pakzad to produce a series of limited-edition cars priced, depending on options, at $1,000,000 and up. The collaboration was announced at an exclusive reception for the press at Bijan’s Rodeo Drive boutique in Beverly Hills on the eve of the Los Angeles Motor Show.

Known simply by his first name, the effervescent and charming Bijan has been holding court in Beverly Hills for more than three decades…

Bijan is a man who creates some of the most expensive designs and accessories in the world, yet behind it all, he is a rather simple, straightforward man. He has built a multi-billion dollar empire and everything that money can buy, but for Bijan, the greatest pleasures in life come from three things: family, friends, and color.

With U.S. Presidents, Hollywood celebrities and members of the Royal Family as clients, you’d think that renowned menswear designer Bijan Pakzad (known simply by his first name) has seen and done it all. There’s the lavish home, elegant Rodeo Drive showroom, beautiful girlfriend, priceless artworks, celebrity friends and private jets.

At the young age of ten, Bijan Pakzad already knew what he wanted to do with his life. Inspired by his dapper-dressing father, Bijan developed an affinity for clothing and vowed to become a designer. What’s more–he further determined that he would be Number One in the world in what he would do. Today, a simple glimpse into the world of Bijan reveals the incredible success of this multi-talented genius.

LE: What are the elements of style that make a well-dressed man? BIJAN: Even if you’re a billionaire, a graduate of Harvard or Le Sorbonne, the first 15 minutes when meeting someone is the most important as far as assessing personnel qualities and grooming standards. Men make a definitive statement about themselves with their clothing as well as accessories. Everything must be impeccable. Great accessories can make an outfit, as will a good sense of humor. No one ever objects to a little creativity.

Bijan is just about the only designer with a world-famous name who works exclusively with men. And not just with men, but with the “realest” men there are. Don’t be misled by the cliché that sets teeth on the edge on this side of the ocean. America is a country where many words mean exactly what they’re supposed to mean.
